There are only two weeks left in which to submit to the fifth annual Art and Olfaction Awards. Online submissions close on November 1, and we ask that all packages be received on or before November 14.
The Institute for Art and Olfaction is pleased to announce the venue, date and judges for the fifth annual Art and Olfaction Awards.
As with past awards, finalists will be anonymously selected by a panel of judges in the Artisan and Independent categories in a double-blind judging process, and the Sadakichi Award for Experimental Work with Scent judges will select both the finalists and the winner in their category.
For 2018, we add a new discretionary award: The Aftel Award for Handmade Perfume. This, along with the Contribution to Scent Culture Award, create two new opportunities to celebrate excellence in artisan perfume, and to honor people whose work has led to greater public awareness of perfume culture, as a whole. Each category winner will receive The Golden Pear, which has quickly become a prestigious achievement in this milieu.
In our fifth year, we are pleased to welcome 14 new judges to the fold – further demonstrating our commitment to diversity of perspectives, culture and scent practices. New judges are marked with an asterisk*.

Prior to that, we will announce the shortlisted perfumes in a special presentation at Esxence in Milan in early April, 2018. This will mark the fourth year of our partnership with our friends in Milan.
The awards event will – as always – be open to the public with RSVP. In the week leading to the awards, we will produce our second annual Experimental Scent Summit, curated by the Institute for Art and Olfaction with Klara Ravat.
Submissions for the awards are open to independent and artisan perfume brands, and experimental practitioners with scent from all countries. Submissions for the 5th annual Art and Olfaction Awards close on November 1, 2017, and samples are due to us on or before November 14, 2017.
ABOUT THE ART AND OLFACTION AWARDS
The Art and Olfaction Awards are designed to raise interest and awareness for independent and artisan perfumers – and experimental practitioners with scent – from all countries. By shining a spotlight on perfumery’s most outstanding creators, we hope to help generate support for independent practices in perfumery as a whole.
The Art and Olfaction Awards are a program of The Institute for Art and Olfaction, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization based in Los Angeles, USA.
