PROJECT SPACES – The Institute for Art and Olfaction

In our continuing mission to provide opportunities to artists in Los Angeles and abroad, we have two unconventional spaces available for exhibitions and installations: Our upstairs Project Space, and our street-facing Window Gallery.

If you are interested in exhibiting or making use of our project spaces, please fill out the form at the link below. We will review all applications, and respond within two weeks.

** Please note that participation is by no means guaranteed: We reserve the right to refuse participation. Refusals are often based on our curatorial interests, organizational capacities, scheduling, and the originality of the project.

The IAO’s project space is devoted to short-term exhibitions, installations and residencies (through our IN_LAB program).

We welcome artists of all stripes to make use of the space in an ongoing open call for proposals. Although exhibitions often relate to olfactory or other sensorial themes, the requirements, expectations and results are wide open.

Duration of installations are typically one month.

More information is coming soon.

Located on a busy pedestrian street in Chinatown’s art district, the IAO window gallery is an unconventional public space with the capacity to thrill the community and visitors to the neighborhood.

We prefer work that makes use of the entire window, is installation based, and has a strong visual impact. However, we are also wide open to ideas.

Duration of installations are typically one month.
