‘Unsettled’
by Bruno Fazzolari
October 14, 2017
The IAO is pleased to welcome artist and perfumer Bruno Fazzolari for an artist talk and presentation of his olfactory art piece ‘Unsettled.’
ABOUT UNSETTLED
UNSETTLED is an interdisciplinary work commissioned by the Nevada Museum of Art for the eponymous exhibition currently on view through January 21, 2018. The work will also be featured in the Museum’s Art and Environment Conference (Oct 19-21, 2017).
UNSETTLED consists of a perfume, a booklet, a “poster” and an extraordinary, hand-blown, glowing, uranium glass bottle in the form of a mushroom cloud.
Unsettled, the exhibition, amasses 200 artworks by 80 artists living and/or working in a super-region we call the Greater West, a geographic area that stretches from Alaska to Patagonia, and from Australia to the American West. Organized by Curatorial Director and Curator of Contemporary Art JoAnne Northrup with Collaborating Curator, iconic Los Angeles artist Ed Ruscha, Unsettled makes connections among the diverse cultures and artistic practices of this super-region.

ABOUT BRUNO FAZZOLARI
Bruno Fazzolari is a perfumer and contemporary visual artist. He first began creating scents inspired by his experience of synesthesia (“seeing” scent). His fragrances initally appeared alongside his paintings in gallery exhibitions. Over time, demand for the scents led to the creation of a “brand” to make the fragrances available outside the exclusive gallery context.
All scents are hand-crafted and hand-poured in small batches in Fazzolari’s studio in San Francisco, California using the highest quality raw materials he can find. Artisanal and personal in all respects, everything from the perfume formula to the package design is created, compounded, bottled, boxed and shipped by the artist and a small staff.
