FIREWORKS PERFUME ACCORD NFT

The IAO was asked to produce an NFT related to perfumery for Christine Finley’s Every Woman Bienial.

Our NFT contribution served as a commentary on ownership and intellectual property in perfumery. Perfume formulas cannot be protected by Intellectual Property law in the United States. However, original artworks can. This piece addresses a few questions but provides no answers. Does intellectual property law still present a reasonable set of expectations? If so, can you override a perfume formula’s lack of protection by turning it into a visual art piece? What about an NFT?
