Perfumery is an art. But it is based in science. While it is easy to forsake rigour in our quest for beauty, it is important not to lose sight of empirical truths. Neuroscientist Anna D’Errico is here to help, in this continuation of our Science of Smell series.
In this class, Anna provides a deep dive into the neuroscience behind language and scent. Why do some languages have a poor olfactory vocabulary? What is innate and what is learned? How do the words we use affect our sensory perception? Can we learn and improve it? Let’s discover new expressions together…

This online talk is presented as part of The Science of Smell series, a collaboration between the Institute for Art and Olfaction and Anna D’Errico. Class will be recorded and shared with everyone who signed up for five days after class ends.
