Love Smells: Perfume-Making for Beginners (In Person)

Join us on the weekend before Valentine’s Day 2024 for a guided blending session using aromatic materials associated with love and attraction.
For the first portion of this smelling and blending session, we will learn about some smells of romance in folklore, pop pyschology, and throughout history. Scent strips will be handed out by your friendly Institute for Art and Olfaction team, and we will spend time smelling and discussing our impressions of these materials.
We will start the second portion of the session by briefly discussing blending scent. Using the palette of perfume materials selected for Valentine’s Day, we will spend the rest of the session blending and creating our own short formulas. Each attendee goes home with a small spray of their aromatic homage to love and attraction.
Take-Aways: Participants will leave with a sense of the basics of perfume blending and a small trial perfume blend in a spray vial.
