Led by Julian Self, Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering at Polytechnique Montreal, this workshop explores the science behind perfumery’s foundation of top, middle, and base notes.

Dr. Self reveals how these three distinct layers of fragrance are directly tied to vapor pressure—the tendency of molecules to evaporate. Discover why base notes with low vapor pressure linger longest on your skin, while fleeting top notes create those immediate but short-lived impressions.

This session is ideal for perfume enthusiasts seeking deeper knowledge, chemistry lovers curious about practical applications, and perfumers wanting to understand the invisible physical properties that shape our olfactory experiences.
