With a focus both on literature and the physical book\, he’ll discuss important texts that highlight the sense of smell\, as well as the various odors associated with books\, and the material processes that produced those smells. His presentation will be followed by a question and answer session with attendees. \n\n\n\n\nDr. Sergej Rickenbacher is the Chair of German and General Literary Studies with a focus on Forms of Knowledge at RWTH Aachen University. Hatshepsut and Cleopatra were visionaries of perfumery\, whose perfume inventions shaped the olfactory history of ancient Egypt and the entire Mediterranean in antiquity. In this\, class Egyptologist Dora Goldsmith will teach you everything to know about ancient Egyptian queens and perfumes.
