If you\, like us\, find yourself missing moisture\, cool shade\, and green leaves\, then have we got the class for you! \nLet’s give ourselves an olfactory dose of spring\, with a perfume workshop that explores all facets of green: From moist leaves to cucumber water\, with some unexpected adventures along the way. \nIAO founder Saskia Wilson-Brown leads attendees through the basics of perfume composition\, with a very simple goal in mind: To make ourselves an interpretation of a green perfume to help us through the yellow season. \nThe first half of class will focus on learning our aromatic palette\, as we smell and discuss a curated selection of verdant materials. The second portion of the class will consist of perfume composition: Each participant will be invited to work with the curated materials to create an original formula\, each leaving with a 30ml Eau de Cologne-strength perfume. \n

How did aromatic materials influence perfumery? How did perfumers draw from the same source to produce such diverse expressions? Each class in this series explores the most important perfumes in 20th and 21st perfumery from the perspective of the materials that inform them. \nIn this class\, Dana covers perfumes highlighting uncommon florals\, including hyacinth\, osmanthus\, and narcissus. She will explore the material provenance\, aromatic aspects\, and notable perfumes that make use of these uncommon floral notes in various ways. Then\, as a group\, the class will smell and discuss a series of notes and perfumes that elucidate the category. \n\n\n\n\nTopics covered: \nHistory and cultural impact of perfume materials\nTechnical information about perfume materials\nOverview of these materials in classic\, contemporary\, mass market\, and niche perfumes \n

DESCRIPTION:Learn more: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1IefleUZoOofkl1Ro3F_UipXKPls_fOGL6YLuQ2paGng/edit?usp=sharing \n– \nProgram dates: October 5 to October 9\, 2026\nSchedule: 10am – 6pm\, daily \nWe return to the charming Chateau le Grippault in the Loire Valley for a five day perfume intensive with Spyros Drospoulos. \nThe stunning historic castle sits on a beautiful wooded estate just minutes from the historic town of Richelieu (former seat of the famous Cardinal Richelieu)\, and provides a perfect retreat: A place to focus on learning\, in a small group of eight people\, led by Spyros’ methodical\, materials-based approach. Mornings are spent in lecture\, and afternoons are spent applying what you have learned to your own compositions. Group dinners every night\, with plenty of opportunity for excursions to the nearby town. \nLimited to eight participants.
