Join us to experience a curated set of scents from the IAO Collections\, with fellow enthusiasts of perfume and industrial smells! Our discussion will focus on our impressions of these scents\, as well as their concordance with the theme. This session presents a unique opportunity to smell and discuss otherwise inaccessible fine fragrances\, perfume materials\, and ephemera from deep inside our archives; excellent for both the die-hard perfume fan and the casual but curious nose. \nNote to returning students: If you have attended past smelling sessions\, there may be some overlap with previous scents from earlier sessions.

For beginners\, in person. \n\n\n\n\nJoin Minetta Rogers for a guided blending session celebrating the solstice\, the smells of fall — and\, of course\, perfume-making! For beginners\, but all levels are welcome. \nFor the first portion of this smelling and blending session\, we will learn about some smells of the season. Scent strips will be handed out by your friendly Institute for Art and Olfaction team\, and we will spend time smelling and discussing our impressions of aromatic materials associated with the season. \nWe will start the second portion of the session by briefly discussing and practicing blending scent. Each student will have the opportunity to blend with aromatic materials from the session’s selected palette. DESCRIPTION:Sorry\, this event is sold out! \n– \nProgram dates: October 5 to October 9\, 2026\nSchedule: 10am – 6pm\, daily \nWe return to the charming Chateau le Grippault in the Loire Valley for a five day perfume intensive with Spyros Drosopoulos. \nThe stunning historic castle sits on a beautiful wooded estate just minutes from the historic town of Richelieu (former seat of the famous Cardinal Richelieu)\, and provides a perfect retreat: A place to focus on learning\, in a small group of eight people\, led by Spyros’ methodical\, materials-based approach. Mornings are spent in lecture\, and afternoons are spent applying what you have learned to your own compositions. Group dinners every night\, with plenty of opportunity for excursions to the nearby town. \n
