The Genealogy of Scent series is taught by perfumer Dana El Masri. Each class will explore the most important perfumes in contemporary practice, and the materials that inform them. Each class covers a brief history and the cultural impact of the materials studied, as well as technical information such as extraction methods and countries of origin. The class then covers the classic, contemporary, mass market and niche applications of these materials by looking at (and smelling) important perfumes. In the latest of this series, Dana leads an exploration of jasmine: its aromatic components, and notable perfumes.
