Explore the funky, funny, and very sweet world of banana smells in this accord-blending workshop with Julianne Lee.
Join us in monkeying around in the joyous, tropical, unctuous aspects of banana. In this hands-on workshop led by Julianne Lee, you’ll learn how perfumers construct fruity accords from scratch, then build and take home your own banana accord.
The class will begin with sampling a curated selection of perfumes from the IAO Collections that feature this delicious note. Next, we’ll smell a bevy of molecules that evoke B-A-N-A-N-A in its many forms: sweet, green, creamy, ripe and pungent.
You’ll then play with those materials and practice balancing a formula. How naturalistic or candy-runt do you want your banana? This workshop is all about experimentation, but with rigor: No answers or formulas are given, but the tools to empower you in your perfume journey.
We highly recommend that you have at least one IAO class under your belt, but eager beginners with self-taught knowledge are also welcome. By the end of class, you’ll leave with your own banana accord formula in hand, along with a working understanding of accord-building that you can apply to any other fragrance notes.
