November 14 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm PST
$80.00–
This class is a hybrid video and live online Q+A session. We will send the link to the video portions before the class, as part of our confirmation email from Eventbrite. All participants should watch the prerecorded videos before attending the live Q&A session.
For the live event, Ashley Eden Kessler will join for a 1.5 hour Q+A session to cover questions and more. Please look out for an email from us about 24 hours before the live Q&A starts, which will contain Zoom log-in information. We will share the Q&A video for this class with all registered participants for 7 days after it takes place and is uploaded to the cloud.
Prerecorded Lecture `1: Making Perfume for Room Diffusers and Lava Rocks
Consider the humble igneous rock known as Scoria. You’ve seen it around, right? It’s often found in sometimes elegant, always decorative aromatic objects. You may know it as a lava rock. It’s the latest thing in room diffusers, and it’s honestly a lot less complicated than candles.
Ashley explores the technicalities of composing for environmental applications in an accessible format. A prerecorded lecture covers composition techniques and specific application needs for environmental scenting, with the necessary technical and creative information to apply their perfumery practice to a new application.
Attendees will also receive a brief overview of scenting for environmental applications.
Prerecorded Lecture 2: Formulating Scents for Candles and Candle Pouring
Perfumer Ashley Eden Kessler explores the technicalities of composing fragrance for candles in an accessible format. A prerecorded demonstration covers the technicalities of candle pouring, while the accompanying document dives into tips and tricks for formulating perfume for application in candles, including the basics of composition techniques and process strategies, an introduction to aromatic materials for candles, a review of fragrance oil design and formulation, evaluating candle scent, and common issues in candle-making.
Pre-recorded documents and lectures are shared upon registration.
