Neuroaesthetics of Smell and Its Use in Performance Art (online)
April 17 @ 9:00 am - 10:30 am PDT
$35.00–
Perfumery is an art. But it is based in science. While it is easy to forsake rigour in our quest for beauty, it is important not to lose sight of empirical truths. Neuroscientist Anna D’Errico is here to help, in this continuation of our Science of Smell series.
In this class, Anna explores the applications of olfaction in the performing arts.
Can an odor be the main character of a play or a performance? What is a scent on stage? Which kind of presence brings along? This class provides an exploration on the use of scent in performance and performance space from possibilities and artistic potential to technical pitfall and practical issues.
Join us for a class that provides an overview of scent and the performing arts.
This online talk is presented as part of The Science of Smell series, a collaboration between the Institute for Art and Olfaction and Anna D’Errico. Class will be recorded and shared with everyone who signed up for five days after class ends.
