Solanum lycopersicum perfume

In 2021, the Institute for Art and Olfaction collaborated with Los Angeles-based Cactus Store to create a limited edition perfume. Solanum lycopersicum is the Latin designation for the world’s most highly consumed fruit, the common tomato.

 

 

Go to the ball smelling like a gardener. Solanum lycopersicum (aka tomato plant) is our first foray into the whiffy world of perfumery, with top notes of tomato leaf, grass, and freshly chopped salad, and lingering flavors of dirt, damp garden soil, leafy hummus, and the heady resinous after-scent of sun scorched tomato vine, more or less.
