The Institute for Art and Olfaction teamed up with Sage Lewis to create a scent experience to accompany his kaleidoscopic, multi-platform sound and visual exploration: OMNI.
Look back from the year 2040. Experience positive synthetic harmonies of warm velvet shifting below surfaces. Fly over the waves of open seas, traveling past 40 stars to a parallel universe. Uncover melancholic echoes staggering surely and confidently toward a sweet chaos until you arrive at the Valley of Mercury. All according to a flexible yet very well-defined sense of purpose and cosmology.
About OMNI
Omni is a cinematic journey into a kaleidoscope of music, art, film, and science fiction.
The project was based on a science fiction story created by Sage Lewis, which was expressed through a multi-modal experience that encompassed music, visual art, video, text, and live listening experiences (enlivened with scent).

Scent
In order to create a more fully immersive live experience, IAO collaborated with Sage Lewis on 3 scents that evoked three locations in the OMNI universe.

About Sage Lewis
As a film composer Sage writes cutting-edge music for VR/AR, film, television, theater, and brand campaigns that can be heard on Netflix, HBO, Amazon Prime, public television, the Oculus Store, and Apple. His films have been screened at festivals including Sundance, SXSW, Tribeca, Cannes, Telluride, Slamdance, International Documentary Film Festival, and the Havana Film Festival. He has written original music for tech and fashion companies such as Facebook, Stripe, Maiyet, John Hardy, and Google.
Sage was a Sundance Film Scoring Lab fellow at Skywalker Sound and a fellow for the BMI Conducting Workshop for Visual Media Composers. He has received numerous grants, awards, and commissions from institutions including the American Composers Forum, Theatre Communications Group, Center Theatre Group, and the City of Los Angeles. He has an MFA from CalArts and a BA from Oberlin Conservatory in Music Composition. He is a member of BMI and is represented by Evolution Music Partners.
Originally from Minneapolis, Sage lives in Los Angeles with his wife Aleigh and their two daughters and regularly produces cultural exchange projects in Cuba and Iceland.
