Post Your Truth
by Jzzy Dzzy
Exhibition: June 15 – July 13, 2018
Meticulously recreating LA’s more beautifully defaced street signs and using throw-away materials like liquor store bags and used record covers as the canvas for his paintings and drawings, Jzzy Dzzy provides an insightful perspective through the streets of Los Angeles. Favorite topics: Hand studies, graffiti-laden advertising placards, vandalized street signs.
In examining and showcasing these worn & torn public items , he creates an homage to the human individual’s impulse to make a mark.
As Jzzy Dzzy says: “The graffiti in Los Angeles is amazing…it’s unpredictable & fleeting. Painting the signs came about because I felt like maybe not everyone sees tagged signs the same way I do. To me they’re the most completely anarchistic community art project you can have and they’re constantly evolving, between being added to and being completely erased. They’re definitely not all beautiful and the beauty is temporary 99% of the time.”
The IAO is pleased to present the first solo show of this remarkable artist in our project space and window galleries.
Opening Date: June 15th, 2018
Time: 7:00 to 9:00pm
Show runs until July 13th
