ABOUT

The Institute for Art and Olfaction offers a space for everybody to discover, explore and improve their creative practices with scent – be it as an independent or artisan perfumer, or simply as a happy enthusiast. Our pedagogical values relate to openness, access, and diversity of practices. In other words, we’re a dogma-free space with a focus on information, and we welcome people at all levels of commitment or interest. With all this in mind, we are pleased to present a new certification track for community members who are committed to learning the crafts and art of working with scent.

The IAO currently offers one certificate:

The Institute for Art and Olfaction
Foundations of Independent Perfumery Certificate

NOTE: This certification track is not possible until the public health situation is in such a place that we feel comfortable scheduling in-person classes again.

 

 

 

 

 

THE INSTITUTE FOR ART AND OLFACTION
FOUNDATIONS OF INDEPENDENT PERFUMERY CERTIFICATE

We offer this certification to students who wish to obtain recorded proof of their foundational independent studies at the Institute for Art and Olfaction. In order to obtain this certificate, students may either attend the courses listed below, on their own time, taking as long as they need. Or, they may attend the week-long perfume intensive with Spyros Drosopoulos.

In order to qualify for the IAO’s “Foundations of Independent Perfumery” certificate, participants must attend the following courses:

+ Introduction to Independent Perfumery (Saskia Wilson-Brown) – LEARN MORE
+ Perfume 101  – LEARN MORE
+ Perfume 202  – LEARN MORE
+ 3 x Accord classes – LEARN MORE
+ 1 x Eleven-week Materials Course  – LEARN MORE
+ 1 x Elective class from our rotating roster of one-off courses – CHECK CALENDAR
+ 1 x Perfume Design Challenge – LEARN MORE
