We launched our nose campaign today and hit the ground running. In fact we hit our first milestone of $1,000 in donations just six hours after announcing the campaign. And then – oh happy day! – we quickly surpassed it.
Taking it down to Chinatown
On June 15th we’re starting a new era in the life of the IAO, moving into a 1,200 square foot space on Chinatown’s historic Chung King Road – a pedestrian thoroughfare that plays host to galleries and shops.
Exhibition: ‘Voyage dans les sens’, Paris
Voyage dans les sens is an exhibition related to olfactory art, opening on May 14th at La Maison du Japon – La Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris.
Little Trees: Mural Installation
A team of ten people spent 8 hours today installing a 40′ x 8′ public olfactory art piece made of Little Trees air fresheners, on the 6th Street Mural outside The Standard, Downtown LA.

Open Sessions
Come experiment with making perfume at The Institute for Art and Olfaction’s public open sessions. Spaces are highly limited and you must reserve your spot in advance. ABOUT Blending aromatic molecules together into a composed perfume is not only fun, but creative, challenging and – sometimes – kinda relaxing. We can’t promise you that you’ll make the next Chanel No. 5, but we can guarantee that you’ll come away with a healthy respect for the art, science and skill it takes to make a perfume. Open Sessions are the IAO’s longest running program, and are designed precisely for beginners who learn best by diving in, intermediate perfumers who want to explore new materials, or advanced perfumers who want to co-work with a diverse and creative community. Relaxed and self-directed, these informal sessions are a great chance to get your first experiences, or refine your blending techniques, using the IAO’s
